Associate Professor in Cyber Security and Trustworthy AI

Salary on appointment will be £58,225 per annum, with an annual increment up to £67,468 per annum  

The School seeks to appoint an Associate Professor in Cyber Security and Trustworthy AI to strengthen research and teaching in secure digital systems and intelligent infrastructure. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of this area, combining expertise in AI security, next-generation networking (5G/6G), cloud and infrastructure security, and cyber-physical systems.
 

The role aligns with UKRI priorities in smart infrastructure, trusted data ecosystems (e.g., medical data), and national resilience. The appointee will contribute to interdisciplinary research integrating secure connectivity, AI technologies, and cyber-physical infrastructure, supporting the development of collaborative research proposals and externally funded projects.

You must have a PhD (or equivalent) in Cyber Security, Computer Science, AI, or a closely related discipline, with experience of high quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. A strong publication record, with experience of successful grant income is also essential. An ability to provide academic leadership and experience in line management and PhD supervision is also key. Experience of managing enterprise and engagement projects and marketing Higher Education courses would be advantageous.

This full-time post is available from 7 September 2026 on an indefinite basis.
