Senior Research Associate

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate join the School of Psychology, in partnership with Norwich Medical School and Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, to help with the adaptation of a psychological sleep intervention for young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties in schools, and to prepare for a clinical trial.

The project, funded by a Wellcome Trust grant, and led by Dr Faith Orchard, is a Foundation Phase award which funds the team to conduct foundational activities in preparation for the testing and implementation of the intervention. You will be responsible for coordinating the patient and public involvement activities with young people, parents and clinicians, alongside a charity partner, for supporting adaptations to the intervention materials, for coordinating a multidisciplinary steering group, and developing the trial protocol.

 You will have a postgraduate level qualification, equivalent qualification or experience in psychology, clinical psychology or psychological therapies.

You will have experience of working with young people, with conducting research on psychological disorders or interventions, and have publications in respected journals within the field.

You will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative data.

Advanced skills including patient and public involvement coordination, implementation science, leading a research project, and communicating research to non-specialists would be advantageous.

This full-time post is available from 1 August 2026 on a fixed-term basis for 9 months. 

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service, including a check of the Child Barred List. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
