£38,831 to £73,992 per annum, pro rata for part-time (appropriate to NHS level of progress)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Clinical Research Fellows to join the Norwich Medical School. These posts have arisen to support clinical academic training and medically qualified trainees aiming to undertake postgraduate research leading to a PhD or an MD (Res) or support existing projects leading to impactful research on a short-term basis.

The posts are available for both basic science and clinical work in any of the labs available in Norwich Medical School.

For candidates with basic science experience, you are expected to have some experience in a variety of in vivo techniques and in vitro work (including the use of primary cells isolated from mice or human).

For candidates with clinical experience, you are expected to have participated in clinical research.

It is essential that candidates are able to demonstrate that they have already been successful in publishing research publications and secured independent funding.

We aim to fund up to three Clinical Research Fellows from 1 August 2026 working from 0.5 FTE to 1.0 FTE from 6-12 months, a time that will allow them to secure pilot data for a competitive PhD application or complete ongoing research.

UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.

We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone can thrive. We particularly welcome applicants with the protected characteristic of disability, race (Black, Asian and minority ethnic), and sex (male) for this post, as they are currently underrepresented in this type of role within the Norwich Medical School. Appointment will be made on merit and all applicants will be scored against the same criteria.
