Starting salary from £38,784 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £46,049 per annum 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer to join the School of Media, Language and Communication Studies to undertake research within the framework of the School’s research strategy and contribute to the teaching, assessment and module organisation on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, providing supervision to PhD students.
  
You will have the opportunity to develop your research profile which compliments existing research strengths, seeking national and international recognition. You will develop proposals to secure external funding and disseminate results through academic publications and conferences. We are particularly looking for research expertise in the area of AI, Digital Media and Communications.  
 
Teaching is a key part of this role and as such you will be expected to plan, teach and assess at undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, taking responsibility for the delivery and assessment of specific modules. This will include organising modules and developing teaching and learning materials. We are particularly looking for expertise in digital storytelling, social media, media production, and creativity and AI. The successful candidate will join our Digital Media teaching team and teach modules on digital storytelling, digital media and critical approaches to AI.  
 
A PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area with experience of undergraduate teaching and student assessment is essential. You will have a track record, appropriate to experience, of high-quality publications and have produced research which has the potential to have an impact beyond academia. Evidence of successful applications for external grant income would be advantageous. 

This full-time post is available from 1 September 2026 for a fixed term period of two years.
