About the Role:

Faculty of Social Sciences
School of Law

Lecturer in Law
Ref: ATR1722

Starting salary from £48,822 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £56,535 per annum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer to join the UEA Law School to undertake research within the framework of the School’s research strategy and contribute to teaching, assessment and module organisation. We are looking to appoint an individual who can contribute to the teaching of core subjects taught as part of the LLB. We have requirements for teaching in Constitutional and Administrative Law, Criminal Law, Trusts, Contract Law, and Tort Law. Teaching is a key part of this role and as such you will be expected to plan, teach and assess taught students, and supervise dissertation and PhD students.

While relevant subject knowledge is essential, the successful candidate’s research interests and profile do not need to directly align with their teaching responsibilities. Preference will be given to applications from candidates who are able to contribute to the school’s existing research strengths in Competition Law, Technology and Intellectual Property Law, and Public Protest Law (broadly defined). The UEA Law School is part of the world-renowned multidisciplinary Centre for Competition Policy. You will have the opportunity to develop your research profile within a strong research community, producing high quality proposals to secure external research funding and disseminate results through academic publications and conferences.

The successful candidate must have a PhD (or equivalent experience) in a relevant subject area or be near completion with submission within six months of commencement of the post. They must also have teaching experience and a strong research profile, and be able to meet all essential criteria as detailed in the candidate brochure.

This full-time post is available from 12 January 2026 on an indefinite basis.

UEA offers a variety of flexible working options including hybrid working and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, part time and job share. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.

Benefits include:

  • 44 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and University Customary days (pro rata for part-time).
  • Family and Work-life balance policies including hybrid working and considerable maternity, paternity, shared parental leave and adoption leave.
  • Generous pension scheme with life cover for dependants, plus incapacity cover.
  • Health and Wellbeing: discounted access to Sportspark facilities, relaxation rooms, 320 acres of rolling parkland, wellbeing walks, Wellbeing Ambassador network, on-campus medical centre including NHS Dentist, Occupational Health and a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Campus Facilities: Sportspark, library, nursery, supermarket, post office, bars and catering outlets.
  • Exclusive shopping discounts to help cut the cost of household bills, childcare salary sacrifice scheme, Cycle to Work scheme and public transport discounts.
  • Personal Development: unlimited access to LinkedIn Learning courses, specialist advice and training from our Organisational Development and Professional Learning Team.

Closing date: 13 November 2025

The University holds an Athena Swan Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality.
