Research Associate in Neuropsychology (Part-time, fixed term)

Salary on appointment will be £30,805 per annum (pro rata), with an annual increment up to £37,174 per annum (pro rata). 

The School of Psychology at the University of East Anglia is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Research Assistant to work on the EyeFocus trial funded by a NIHR i4i FAST award led by Dr. Stéphanie Rossit (https://www.stephanierossit.com/eyefocus-app).

The trial will test the clinical usability and feasibility of the EyeFocus app for attention rehabilitation in acquired brain injury.

You will be based within Dr. Rossit’s research laboratory (Neurolab: https://www.stephanierossit.com/) in the School of Psychology and work in close collaboration with Dr. Laura Manno and Dr. Laura Biggart.

You will join the friendly and supportive EyeFocus multidisciplinary team composed of leading stroke researchers, NHS clinicians, an industry partner (Animorph Co-operative) and representatives of the Stroke Association charity and members of the public.

Under the guidance of the team, you will be responsible for setting-up the trial and monitoring recruitment and trial delivery in liaison with the local NHS sites involved (lead NHS site Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital). This may include collection of data from stroke survivors with spatial neglect within hospital settings, coordination of therapy delivery provision with stroke therapists, conduction of quantitative and qualitative analysis of data and evaluation of the findings in discussion with the research team. 

You will write up reports for our industry partner and for publication in collaboration with the team, and disseminate the results via peer reviewed journal publications, presentation at conferences and public events.

You will have an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in psychology, rehabilitation sciences or closely related field. You will also have experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods (e.g., undergraduate research project), excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and excellent organisational skills.

You will be provided with academic and pastoral support (including guidance on career opportunities) within the School and training will be available designed to develop your competencies and ability to take on a wider range of responsibilities.

This part-time (0.5 FTE) post is available from 14 July 2025 on a fixed term basis until 28 April 2026. 

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service, including a check of the Vulnerable Adult Barred List. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to vulnerable adults.
