Recruitment, Outreach and Events Placement Year Interns (2 x full time roles, fixed-term for 12 months)

THESE ROLES ARE ONLY OPEN TO UEA PLACEMENT YEAR STUDENTS 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Recruitment, Outreach and Events (ROE) team and spend a year working on everything from Welcome Week through to primary school campus visits.  

Working across all teams in the ROE department, you will travel to schools both locally and nationally to promote Higher Education and the UEA; contribute to the success of on-campus events, and deliver presentations to a variety of audiences, both in person and online.  

Specific duties will include: 

  • To assist in the day-to-day operational administration of numerous activities organised within the Recruitment, Outreach & Events Department (ROE)  
  • To enthuse, introduce and promote Higher Education to sixth form, secondary and primary school students 
  • To deliver presentations on the various programmes of study and reasons for studying at university to primary and secondary schools, sixth form colleges and mature learners 

Specific skills and qualities required: 

  • Ability to work as part of a team with a positive and flexible approach to work 
  • Ability to work autonomously and be self-motivated 
  • Enthusiasm for working with young people

This role does require the ability to travel both in Norfolk and nationally. You will be using UEA fleet cars and will be provided with full car familiarisation and supported by your line manager to build your confidence driving. Reasonable adjustments will be made in line with the Equality Act 2010.

This role would benefit UEA Placement Year students looking to progress into Widening Participation, Student Recruitment, Events Management, or Project Management, alongside careers working with young people in schools & colleges, charities, or third-party organisations.

You will: 

  • Gain experience working with young people, including prospective students and their influencers 
  • Gain experience working in a professional office environment and developing core administration skills 
  • Develop your skills and confidence delivering presentations to large audiences  

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service, including a check of the Child Barred List. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
