An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate join the Norwich Medical School and the School of Health Sciencestoconduct research into the management of cough and secretions in Motor Neurone Disease (MND).    
 
Working with a multi-disciplinary team of academics and clinicians from UEA, the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and the Motor Neurone Disease Associationyou will contribute to the development of highly impactful clinical research using a range of applied research skills.  

Over this year, you will undertake a complex intervention systematic review, (supported by a research team experienced in this type of review) into the management of secretions in Motor Neurone Disease. You will use these findings to inform the development of future studies including focus groups, interviews and a co-produced decision support aid for the management of this problem.   

In addition to analysing and interpreting data, writing up results for peer review publication and presenting findings at academic conferences and to the public, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to grant applications, build research skills, enable implementation of findings.     

You will have a postgraduatelevel or equivalent qualification or experience in a relevant research area.  You will also have experience of independentresearch, have publications in respected journals or equivalentwithin the field and be able to work in a proactive and results driven manner in a high paced environment. You will also have stronginterpersonaland communicationskills, with the ability to analyse and interpret data and work effectively as part of a team. Previous experience conducting a complex intervention review is highly desirable.

We are looking for an adaptable, self-directed and committed individual, ideally with experience of conducting research with groups such as those with life limiting conditions and/or those with communication challenges.  

This part-time (0.8 FTE)post is available for an immediate starton afixed term basis for 1 year, with the potential to extend the position up to 3 years. The appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Standard level from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
