The University of East Anglia is looking for a new Director of Music to lead its active and energetic Music Centre.

We are looking for: 

  • Musical leadership in a varied, dynamic, non-academic environment

  • Cultural direction and inspiration to enrich University life and enhance our place within the wider community of Norwich and Norfolk 

You will have a strong conducting background and skills with both orchestra and choir. You’ll be committed to the value of music for musicians, in both performing and social contexts, and to its place in a community. With an interest in student-led music-making and experience in musical organisation and administration, this is an ideal role for someone with broad musical interests. 

You will join a Music Centre with a capable and experienced administrative team, established facilities and which enjoys engagement with the fascinating musical environment in and around Norwich. 

This part-time (0.6 FTE) post is available from 1 August 2025 on a fixed term basis for 3 years, with the possibility of extension. The hours can be worked flexibly in line with the Music Centre rehearsal, concert and event schedules.
