Salary on appointment will be £30,505 per annum (pro rata), with an annual increment up to £36,924 per annum (pro rata).

UEA has some of the most innovative and highly regarded centres for research in the UK. Applications are invited for the post of Research Technician to assist in the research under the supervision of Dr Amer Rana to work on testing cell transfection methods.

The aim of the project is to test cell transfection methods and assess transfection efficiency using qPCR and protein expression analyses. 

Key duties of the role include following experimental designs set by the Principal Investigator, suggesting improvements to experimental designs and producing your own experimental designs. Working in a team environment you will contribute to the general running of the lab, but also work independently managing your own project and time to complete project deadlines. You will follow cell and molecular biology protocols. Performing primary cell line culture, iPSC maintenance and differentiation, cell transfection, RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, QPCR, immunostaining and western blotting.

You will have essential skills in producing your own experimental designs, project management, cell line culture, cell transfection, RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, QPCR, immunostaining and desirable skills in iPSC maintenance and differentiation, and western blotting.

This part-time (0.8FTE) post is available immediately on a fixed term basis until 31 July 2025. You will be required to work some out of hours and weekends to be negotiated with the Principal Investigator and other lab members.
