Senior Research Associate

Starting salary from £37,099 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £44,263 per annum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate to join the School of Biological Sciences to conduct studies on the reproductive strategies of fruit flies.

In this role you will be the lead researcher on a project that aims to measure the benefits of different sexual strategies and to determine the conditions that allow them to coexist within populations. You will do this by (i) directly measuring the success of sexual strategies in wild populations and in males engineered to adopt one or other sexual strategy, (ii) measuring the form of selection acting on these strategies, and (iii) identifying the underlying signatures at the level of the genome.

We are seeking an experienced Post Doctoral Researcher to lead on all elements of the project and supervise the day-to-day activity of the Research Associate. You will have a relevant postgraduate research degree or equivalent professional experience in Evolutionary Biology, Behavioural Ecology or Genetics and must fulfil all essential elements of the person specification.

You will be provided with academic and pastoral support within the School (including guidance on career opportunities) and training and development activities will be available. These will be designed to develop competencies and ability to take on a wider range of responsibilities.
