Project Officer (full-time, fixed term to 30 September 2024)

Starting salary from £36,333 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £43,155 per annum
We are recruiting a Project Officer to manage the administrative activities involved in bidding for and accepting research grants in the Faculty of Science. You will join a friendly, collaborative team in Research and Innovation Services.
This is a busy and varied role which involves:
- Providing advice for researchers on budgeting and bidding for external grant applications
- Working with the University's research costing and pricing system and funders' grant management systems
- Authorising applications which are in line with the University's agreed policies and procedures
- Drafting and negotiating straightforward contracts (with the support of the Contracts Team)
- Managing your own workload and overseeing that of administrative staff to support a range of activities with competing deadline and timescales
- Working closely with academic and administrative colleagues to provide a supportive, professional service.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, with experience of working in a similar or transferable role, and will be able to fulfil the essential elements of the person specification. A scientific background is not necessary.
This full-time post is available immediately on a fixed term basis to 30 September 2024 to cover the secondment of the current post holder. A secondment will be considered, and applicants should please ensure that a secondment will be possible with their Line Manager/Head of Department, before submitting a formal application.
