Lecturer in Filmmaking

Salary on appointment will be £48,822 per annum, with an annual increment up to £56,535 per annum.
UEA is seeking to appoint a creative practitioner and academic to lead undergraduate teaching of filmmaking at the new CUCN-UEA Digital Creativity Institute in Nanjing, China.
The successful candidate will have expertise in practical filmmaking and the development and management of screen production processes. You may have an academic or industry background, with experience in filmmaking, directing, production management, documentary or commercial filmmaking, or related areas of film practice.
You will demonstrate expertise in developing and delivering creative projects from conception through to completion. You will have experience supporting collaborative production work and will be confident teaching areas such as project development, pitching, production planning, teamwork, professional practice, and reflective evaluation.
The postholder will initially lead the teaching and delivery of one module, which forms part of BFA Film and Television Photography and Production, Writing and Creating Media: Project Development and Execution.
As the course develops, you will also contribute to wider teaching across filmmaking and screen production, including areas such as directing, production processes, sound design and editing, factual video production, and commercial filmmaking.
The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting students to develop the professional skills, collaborative capabilities, and creative confidence required to succeed within contemporary film industries.
This full-time role is available from 4 January 2027 for a fixed term period of 3 years and will be based in Nanjing, China.
