Starting salary from £38,784 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £46,049 per annum.

A new opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant, Income and Tax to join the Finance and Planning Division at the University of East Anglia.

This role offers the opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to take ownership of key areas of the University's financial accounting, tax compliance, income management and treasury reporting. Working within the Financial Accounting team, you will play an important role in ensuring that financial information is accurate, robust and supports effective decision making across the University.

You will contribute towards a range of financial accounting activities, including month end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, cashflow reporting, treasury analysis, statutory accounts preparation and support for external audit requirements.

You will have the opportunity to develop expertise in VAT and tax compliance, providing advice to colleagues, working with external advisers on technical matters, and helping to ensure compliance within a complex and evolving area of university finance.

It is essential that you are professionally qualified or part-qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or able to demonstrate significant relevant experience. Experience in financial accounting (including statutory reporting and tax compliance) is essential, whilst having operated within a large or regulated organisation would be an advantage.

This full-time post is available from 2 November 2026 on an indefinite basis. 

UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we are happy to accept applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including compressed working hours over a 5 day working week, slightly less than 1 FTE (minimum 0.6) and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.
