Starting salary from £38,249 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £45,413 per annum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a UK-USA ESRC-SBE (NSF)-funded project led by Professor Kenny Coventry, investigating the factors that determine spatial demonstrative use (e.g. this/that/here/there) across diverse languages. The goal of the project is to identify commonalities and differences in spatial communication systems across speakers of diverse languages, and to establish if there is a potential mapping between the environment in which people live and the spatial distinctions languages make.

You will be responsible for coordinating data collection across languages, liaising with data collection sites, designing in person and on-line experiments, analysing the data using Multi-Level Modelling techniques, and contributing to dissemination and impact activities.

You will have a PhD in a relevant field, experience of independent research, and publications in respected journals within the field. You will have advanced statistical skills and knowledge of psycholinguistic and cross-linguistic research methods.
