An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate - Researcher-in-Residence at Norfolk County Council to join the School of Health Sciences, via the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration - East of England (ARC EoE).

The ARC EoE has been awarded funding from NIHR to strengthen research capacity in adult and children’s social care. This project – ASCENT – will support the delivery of practice-based research, the use of evidence in the commissioning and delivery of care services, and the improvement of practitioners’ research skills.  ASCENT is led by Prof Eneida Mioshi (University of East Anglia) and Prof Kathryn Almack (University of Hertfordshire).

This Researcher-in-Residence (RiR) post is co-funded by the ASCENT programme, the CRN East of England, and the Norfolk County Council, and targets research capacity building in Adult Social Care.  The RiR will be working with Norfolk County Council teams across the county, with 60-80% of the work being hybrid.

You will have PhD in applied healthcare research or another relevant research area within NIHR remit. You will have experience of independent research. You will also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong organisational skills and the ability to plan and manage your own workload to meet deadlines.  Meticulous, with strong attention to detail, would be advantageous.

This post is available from 12 August 2024 on a part-time or full-time, fixed term basis.  There is some flexibility in that the appointed candidate may wish to negotiate a shorter, full-time post for approximately 8¼ months or may wish to work part-time for a longer period of time at approximately 0.65FTE for 12 months.  There is potential for the post to be extended subject to continuation of funding.  This post will be based at Norfolk County Council offices with some attendance on campus at UEA required from time to time.

UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part-time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.

We strongly encourage applications from those from Black, Asian or other minority ethnic backgrounds and welcome applications from all protected groups as defined by the Equality Act 2010. Appointment will be made on merit.

Benefits include:
  • 44 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and University Customary days (pro rata for part-time).
