Coastal areas in East Anglia, nationally and beyond are experiencing significant changes, this is expected to continue and likely accelerate due to climate change and sea-level rise. Join us in leading research on improving our understanding of coastal system dynamics. We are looking for a leader to develop a strong coastal research group with a focus on impact and innovative solutions. You will take a prominent leadership role in the research life of the Tyndall Centre and School of Environmental Sciences. You will be expected to maintain a high profile as a leader in your academic field and promote enterprise and engagement at UEA.

We are seeking someone with a strong track record in coastal research and an interest in holistic and system-level understanding of coasts. Your interests could be in natural science, social sciences or engineering and concern the open coast and/or estuaries and associated coastal lowlands. You will have a demonstrable interest in developing system-level understanding and in developing your own interdisciplinary research teams, building upon the extensive coastal expertise in the Tyndall Centre and the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia. There are also extensive opportunities to engage more widely across the University, and in partnership with CEFAS (Centre for Environment. Fisheries and Aquaculture Science), to create appropriate research teams to tackle the diverse problems faced at the coast.

This post offers reduced teaching responsibilities, allowing for greater focus and freedom. We encourage you to use this opportunity to develop a coastal research centre that is interdisciplinary and responds to the societal need for solutions.
