An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate join the Medical School. We are looking for a psychology graduate to join our friendly team of clinical researchers in the field of stroke psychology. This is an exciting opportunity to complete public and professional engagement and research co-production targeting the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in people with stroke. You will have prior experience working with service user groups, excellent interpersonal skills and a high standard of written communication.
We have been awarded Research Capability Funding (RCF) by the local NHS commissioning body, Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board (NWICB), who have funded this post to support with the development of a grant application to the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). This will involve engagement with stakeholders to understand the current priorities for stroke survivors.
You will engage with stroke survivors, clinicians, NHS commissioners, and other agencies, to discuss the current challenges in the provision of psychological care in stroke pathways. This role is an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in research design, co-production, collaborative multi-agency working, and report-writing and may be of particular interest to those with career interests in academia. For candidates with interests in a future in clinical psychology, there will be opportunities to develop advanced knowledge of clinical psychological interventions applied to a specialist clinical group.
About us
We are a group of research-active Clinical Psychologist academics with interests in the psychological consequences of stroke. Our group has produced internationally renowned research in areas of post-stroke emotionalism, identity, adjustment, and carer difficulties. We fall within the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychological Therapies (CPPT) in Norwich Medical School, which includes the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (ClinPsyD) and Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) programmes.
As a Research Associate you will contribute to the research programme, analyse and interpret data, write up results and present information on research progress and outcomes.
You will have a graduate level qualification, equivalent qualification or experience and be able to work in a proactive and results driven manner in a high paced environment. You will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to analyse and interpret data and work effectively as part of a team. Advanced skills directly relating to this research area and previous research experience would be advantageous.
This part-time (0.4FTE) post is available on a fixed term basis to 30 June 2024.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service, including a check of the Adult Barred List.
